What Is Hydroseeding?

Hydroseeding is a mix of materials. It all starts with the mulch. The mulch could be either paper, wood, or a mix of the two. Next is the seed. Any kind of seed can be used, it doesn’t have to be grass seed either! It could be a wild flower or clover mix as well. The final additive is fertilizer. This fertilizer will very from company to company. There is an option to put tackifier in the mix also.

Hydroseeding provides a much faster, more efficient method for growing grass over seeding and mulch or broadcasting seed. Hydroseeding produces higher levels of seed germination and soil stability than seeding and mulching. Which makes it more desirable for erosion control jobs and home owners who don’t want their yard to wash away. It’s even better than sod when you consider the price! Hydroseeding is typically half the price of sod.

Here at H2 Grow we only use 100% wood mulch. Wood is capable of holding moisture longer than its paper counterpart. So wood provides better germination and that is why we use it exclusively. We also use tackifier if the job requires it.
